Waar gaat One Outs over?
Hiromichi Kojima, de sterslagman van de Lycaons, vertrekt naar het Zuid-Japanse eiland Okinawa om te trainen en een nieuwe werper voor de ploeg te zoeken. Daar ontmoet hij Toa Tokuchi, een werper van 134 km/uur en de onbetwiste koning van een gokvorm van honkbal genaamd 'One Outs'. Op aandringen van Kojima tekent Tokuchi een ongebruikelijk contract bij de Lycaons: hij krijgt 5.000.000 yen voor elke nul die hij gooit, maar verliest 50.000.000 yen voor elk punt dat hij opgeeft. Een psychologisch spel op hoog niveau vol honkbal, gokken en logica staat op het punt te beginnen.

The other team's attempt to sabotage Tokuchi is turned against them when Tokuchi and Ideguchi place the planted evidence on the batter instead. Forced to kneel down and apologize to Tokuchi to avoid exposing the team's cheating, the Lycaons are able to continue and win the game. However, the victory is just another step to achieve Kojima and the Lycaons' goal to win the championship.
